Bacolod’s MassKara Festival 2011

Negros Occidental, Bacolod City will be once again celebrating the one of the most famous festivals of the Philippines – the Masskara Festival.

MassKara is coined from two words: Mass, which means “many, or multitude,” and Kara, a Spanish word for “face,” thus MassKara is a mass or multitude of smiling faces.

For Bacolenos, MassKara is a celebration and expression of thanks for the abundance of blessings life brings them.

Bacolod Masskara Festival 2010 Schedule of Activities

bacolod-masskara smileBacolod will be once again celebrating its 31st Masskara Festival this year. As expected it will be a memorable and exciting week long celebration for all the Bacolenos and tourists who will be present in this event. An early preparation by the organizers is an assurance of a memorable 2010 in Bacolod. We can do nothing but to expect that this upcoming Bacolod Festival will be more exciting and full of fun as the past festival celebration ever happened as there will be many activities in lined.

Apart from the Street Dance competition, now on its 4th year, the Electric MassKara has successfully earned its own distinction as another mardi gras of the festival. With the bright innovation of converting the Lacson St. (from the 5th St. to North Drive) into a Tourism Strip as an alternative party venue to the public plaza, the birth of Electric MassKara has added glitter to the evenings of the festival. The Electric MassKara will showcase colorfully lit dancers and carnaval-like features for 2 nights.
